Grace M. Alexander

Grace M. Alexander (b. 2001) is an American violinist, collaborator, musical leader, arts administrator, and photographer. Currently based in Vancouver, BC Canada, she is passionate about creating thoughtful, musical, and creative experiences for people of all backgrounds and interests. Growing up between Santa Monica, CA and Plains, MT, nature has always been a centerpiece of her creative inspiration. Grace aims to integrate the natural world into all artistic avenues of her life.

  • As a chamber musician, orchestral player, and soloist, Grace enjoys performing in various settings. She is also passionate about coaching, mentoring, and teaching.

    Grace recently completed her undergraduate degree (B.M. Performance, May 2023) at St. Olaf College. She recently started her graduate degree (M.Mus. Performance, ant.2026) at University of British Columbia School of Music, with a focus in collaborative performance and advanced violin pedagogy.   • Artistic collaboration is a focal point of Grace's career, through creative projects intersecting interdisciplinary fields. Her goal is to create innovative and fun experiences for audiences of all ages.

    She currently performs regularly as a duo with Will Rand in the Pacific Northwest area of the U.S. and Canada. Check out her new commission project Resilience Sounds!

  • While in her undergraduate degree, Grace co-founded Synergy Musicians' Collective, a student-led instrumental collective serving performers, composers, and conductors at St. Olaf College.

    During her time as Co-Artistic Director, the group presented five distinct projects/concerts to the Southeastern Minnesota area. Each concert was thoughtfully curated by a team of students and advisors, bringing together multiple academic areas of St. Olaf in interdisciplinary collaboration. Examples of these aspects in concerts included live dance interpretation to music, live art created, audience participation in live composition/improvisation, spoken work/poetry, and more.

  • From musical leadership contributions starting at St. Olaf College, Grace is developing arts administration and project development skills in work with various music and arts non-profit organizations.

    Her skills include artistic planning, grant writing, event and concert curation, festival student recruitment, budget management, contract writing, and more. She currently works with the EarthStory, International Cello Institute, FilAm Music Foundation, and the Við Djúpið Music Festival.

  • The people that surround Grace give her inspiration. Capturing their emotions and artistic aura through portrait photography allows both Grace and the subject to find environments where there can be experimentation, and comfort while creating images that feel like them.

    Having a background in 35mm and 120mm film development, Grace has also been captured by the power of light and dark. Through landscape and architectural photography, she continues examining spaces through this lens. View some of her favorites in her photo portfolio.

Recent Features

As musician, development assistant, and photographer for the Við Djúpið Music Festival in Ísafjörður, Iceland — Grace’s photos were recently published in Forbes Online Magazine. The article, ‘Why This Icelandic Music Festival Should Be Your Next Wellness Retreat’ by Anna Haines, was released on February 27, 2025 and features photography from the 2024 Festival that Grace captured.
